This series of pictures were shot from the terrice of our hotel.
The Hotel Tofout.( Beiber for "The Sun")
over about a 30 minuet period on Christmas day 2003.
The sun is setting over the fabled "Purple Isles". Where from ancent times, about 380 BC ( discovered by the Phoenicians) to the end of the Roman era this was the only place in the known world to get the purple dye used in ancent times on the emperors robes.

On the island you can see the remains of an ancent Mosque and a old prison.
Now the island is a preserve for falcons and you can only visit it during the non nesting parts of the year.
